The Royal Jelling experience centre is currently under construction and will open in the summer of 2015. During the construction period, Royal Jelling offers tours of the monument area with Danish, German and English speaking guides. Other languages can be accommodated on demand when possible. Access to lectures at the museum can also be booked by prior arrangement.
Opening in 2015, the National Museum of Denmark’s magnificent Royal Jelling experience centre, located close to the Jelling monuments, will feature new interactive exhibits. Here you can learn about the history, significance and origins of King Gorm the Old and King Harald Bluetooth’s unique Viking monuments from the 900s AD, which have been subject to research for 400 years since the late 1500s when the magnificent monuments first captured the nation’s imagination.
The two Viking rune stones, the Jelling Church and the two mighty barrows north and south of the church enjoy UNESCO World Heritage patronage.
